Partner Carl Vulcan, CPA, CFE, took his role as Chairman of the Board for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (Western PA & West Virginia chapter) to new heights as he rappelled 22 stories down the side of the Koppers building in Pittsburgh, PA. The rappel was the main feature at the organization’s first annual “Over the Edge” event, which was designed to kick off their week of Light the Night walks and to fundraise for their cause. The organization’s mission is to fund research for a cure for blood cancers, raise awareness, and also help local patients and families through their treatment.
Carl has served in various capacities with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society for decades. He served as Treasurer for 12 years before being named the Walk Chair in 2014. This year, he continues to expand his role as he was named Chairman of the Board. The “Over the Edge” event was his first public debut as the incoming chairman.
“I just thought it was a good opportunity to raise money for our Light the Night fund by telling friends and family that I was going to do it,” he says. “It turns out people were willing to support. It was exhilarating, and I’d do it again next year if I am able!”
