The Catanese Group story began in 1946 when our founders opened an accounting firm in New York City. Twelve years later, the first client was engaged in Johnstown, PA and by the mid 1970’s, eight significant clients existed in the Johnstown area.
Sam Catanese joined the organization in June of 1976 as the Firm continued to grow. During the latter part of the seventies, Carl Vulcan and Peter Shrift joined the Firm and all became Partners during the 1980’s. In 1984, a Pittsburgh office was opened. Joseph DeYulis became a Partner in 1993. Sean Wonderling became Tax Partner in 2017, and Greg Suttmiller and Dustin Sherry became Partners in 2018.
Today, Catanese Group has defined specializations in several areas including retail, real estate, professional services, not-for-profit, governmental, health care, and legal services. At the present time, a total of 7 Partners and 12 staff members make up the Johnstown and Pittsburgh offices of Catanese Group.
As a testament to our long-term committment to our clients, many of the same individuals who helped to establsh the Johnstown-based firm are still part of our client base today.
